America’s obsession with black death
Just a quick reminder our lives are valuable and it’s ok to turn off the TV every once in awhile.
Am I the only one that feels like Black death is becoming normalized by the media. I feel like they opened up Atlanta first just to fuck with us, and when I say they I mean
well you know what I mean.
I’m just sick of always seeing people with the same skin as me being placed in caskets when they should be alive and sitting on thrones. Speaking of thrones I want to get into Game of Thrones so bad but every time I try I fall asleep. It’s something about seeing a billion white people on screen it puts me to sleep faster than melatonin. Whenever people ask me if I watched Friends I just remember taking a nap until Martin comes on. When white people ask me if I’ve seen Friends I usually ask them if they’ve seen Living Single if they say no that’s where the convo usually ends. Is it weird that I can identify true allies by who fucked with the UPN?
I never thought I would get so much enjoyment from being asleep as I am in quarantine - my dreams have been fire. 🔥 I’ve been dreaming ‘bout doing the cha-cha slide in my uncle's backyard, twerking on a handstand at a house party, being with black people in spaces where we can listen to the savage remix and be ourselves. (BTW Beyoncé got me wanting to launch an only fans.) Anyway, that’s the content I want to see, but how come they never show that on CNN?
Why can’t our joy be as newsworthy as our pain?
I try to ignore the news as much as I can nowadays accept for key information from Dr. Faulci. I think Governor Cuomo is cute or whateva. Nevertheless, I think there’s something so weird about watching him kiki with his brother on TV while people are struggling to pay their rent.
So I just want to say turn off the TV every once in awhile, meditate, allow yourself to be lazy...because our lives are more valuable than what they want us to see.
