This time of my life has been humbling, to say the least. Between watching every show possible on Netflix, to learning random new hobbies like how to make edibles; I think I’ve officially hit my peak when it comes to quarantine productivity. If you’re like me you’ve probably been on Instagram, a lot, and you’ve been bombarded with images of fitness models doing a billion squats in their private garden in Beverly Hills. Well, I just want to remind you, that house is probably rented, and you don’t have to come out of this looking like you’ve been working out with Mark Wahlberg. I constantly have to remind myself that we are in a global pandemic and it is not a productivity contest. Nevertheless, at this time I’ve learned not to take my life or my body for granted because-
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” -Audre Lorde
At the end of the day I know there is a greater tomorrow on the other side of this. That being said, here’s some quick things I’ve found that have given me a sense of balance— which is needed after sleeping in and binge watching Little Fires Everywhere all night.
ALO YOGA
I never thought I would be the type to get into yoga at home, I’m not really the WOOSAAH type, but ALO YOGA has amazing classes on YouTube for free. The lessons are super intuitive and they record the lessons without music so if you really wanna open your third eye I recommend playing Trina while you’re in downward dog.
SIMPLE QUARANTINE WORKOUTS
These are easy workouts you can do at all fitness levels. A great thing about the workouts featured in this video is they don’t take up a lot of space, and honestly please introduce me to the person that has space for a Peloton bike in their New York apartment. I need a sugar daddy ASAP.
AMBIENT SOUNDS
I’ve suffered from anxiety my whole life, and my mind is usually on a hundred at all times. One thing that always calms me down is white noise or the sound of the rain. I usually put this on when I need to focus, concentrate, write, or meditate. It forces me to stay in the moment, which is something I think we all need in this time.
QIGONG
I’m still a beginner when it comes to Qigong, but I took a class before COVID and I just remember feeling high immediately after I left. This is an ancient Chinese practice that has numerous benefits like reducing inflammation, decreasing depression, and lowering blood pressure, and all of that is needed whenever I see trump on TV.

If all else fails just listen to some music and be thankful that you are healthy, and alive.
